Sep. 27th, 2003 01:19 pmWoo! Managed to snag Lori on her way to a movie, and we closed the Virgule House account. $14 and some change later, it's gone, and I have laundry quarters.
Dru's out, so his nagging is at a remove, and I don't have him hovering over my shoulder as I sort through the books that haven't made it to the shelves yet. It's funny - for all my bibliophilia, giving me books for presents isn't a sure thing. If it's recent sci-fi or fantasy, I've likely jumped on it already, and if it's normal fiction, quite likely I'm not interested.
With a few exceptions (Tom Robbins, Tabitha King), contemporary fiction simply doesn't interest me. I'm not sure if it's the contemporary characters that bug me, or the lack of possibility inherent in non-contemporary fiction that does it.
Neither of which explains my dirty little pulp romance thing. I need to bike more, just so I don't have the excuse of needing something to read on the bus to start up one of my romance subscriptions again. That would be bad.
Anyway, today is laundry and unpacking with a dash of cooking, baking, Pharoah and knitting.
