As you may have guessed from my previous entry, I occasionally despair of ever seeing well-written fic in the Harry Potter fandom. I mean, there's always *something*, and no one author ever gets all of the characters right - she hates someone or another (Quite rightly in some instances) which means said hated character gets royally ass-fucked without lube in regards to canon characterization. And the authorial intrusions sometimes drive me bug-fuck nuts, even when they're not compounded with simply atrocious spelling and grammar gaffes.
We won't go into the WIP thing. That goes stright from despair into teeth-gnashing scatalogically, sexaully and biologically impossible cursing.
But Fear not, my Brethren!
For, lo, the Prophet is nigh, and the Book, yea, the Holy Book, has been written.
The Word has come unto us, and it is Good.
It numbereth amongst the Blessed, and the Author thereof is counted amongst the Saints.
*blink*
*scrubs brain of _Small Gods_ references*
I'm managed to spend my evening reading AJ Hall's
Dissipation and Despair, a sequel of sorts to the opus
Lust Over Pendle.
If ever an author has inspired me to format, print and hand-bind her work, it's her. Her characters, both canon and original, breathe, her plots twist and tangle and ensnare the senses, and she not only finishes before she posts... no - *publishes*, she ties it up in a pretty bow, and makes an e-book of it.
And, to be completely partisan, she writes absolutely splendiferous Neville and Hermione. So there.
And, now, my pretties, I'm off to bed.
