In today's quest for the Perfect Breakfast, I got up at 6 to slide the bread into the oven, and as soon as it came out, went back to bed and slept til noon. So no fresh hot bread from the oven for me, and once again, the Perfect Breakfast has eluded me.

I'm perfecting my bacon - today I baked it in the toaster oven, and when it was almost done, poured a little of the grease into the egg pan. The eggs, of course, were scrambled with a bit of milk to make them extra fluffy. And the bread makes extra good toast, so while not perfect, it's pretty damn good. Good enough that the entire time I was eating, all I could think of was how to describe the fluffy goodness in an entry.

It's gorgeous outside, and in my quest not keep from becoming a denizen from the Underdark, I'm going to walk down to the hardware store and get myself a hair-catcher for my tub drain and some veggie seeds. Mmmm. Fresh veggies.

First, a bit of Helen, because she's finally gotten round to diving into the Harry Potter world, and as always, her prose is simply sublime.
Close Enough by Helen
Harry/Ron in a post-Voldemort world, with lots of hot sex and both boys being equally fuckwitted about their relationship, but in an endearing way.

A Quaint Notion by Helen
Ron/Draco, which shouldn't work, but does.

And then some Te goodness:
Black Sky series by Te
Just by writing this stuff, Te is making me *want* my comics subscriptions again. I stopped cold turkey in '98, and I've been meaning to sell off some of my collection, but she's reminding me why I love the potential inherent in the DCU.
So anyway, Tim Drake/Robin dies, and Kon/Superboy learns both how to cope with the loss and deal with being a part of the Bat-family.

And finally we find some crossovery goodness:
Farscape/Harry Potter
Enlistment by Shaye
The Trio gets bored and goes looking for worlds to save.

Buffy/Smallville
Lines of Communication by C. L. Kamnikar
Whoever rec'ed this first called Dawn the Little Black Dress of Crossovers, because, hey - Key. And as long as Krycek can retain his title of Little Black Dress of Slash, I'm fine with that.
Besides the seamlessness of the crossover and the lovely, lovely dialogue, I love this story because it makes the Mother/Daughter relationship Buffy's trying to construct out of the debris of Older/Younger Sister and Slayer/Key-ness and makes it less broken. It's a sequel to Runaway Trains, but it can be read all by itself.
