Good Fridays
Mar. 12th, 2004 06:31 pmAfter a long and grueling process, Dad finally got the power of attorney out of Grandpa, the title out of the State of Illinois, and the whole mess shipped off to me. I forgot yesterday, but today I made up some flyers and started posting them around the Med Center. There are a few boards for which you need some sort of official stamp, and the first board for which I had to ask, the guy at the desk took one look and immediately stated his unwillingness to post it because it was such a good deal.
A detour to chat with Jacyn, and by the time I got back to my desk, he'd called Dru to set up an appointment to see the car tonight. In about an hour.
I've already started it up and tootled around the parking lot, but as it's *still* un-licensed and uninsured, I wasn't about to take it onto the road. Yep, still runs.
The future is opening up in front of me - pink and rosy! No more nagging from the manager about the registration! No more wibbling: 'I'd like my very own car, but I can't afford this one' Temptation is gone! The Blue Beast is rolling out the door!
(For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, the Blue Beast, aka the Pimpmobile is a powder-blue 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. It drives like a barge, guzzles gas like a leaky oil tanker, and was a gift from my grandfather to my brother upon his return from the Peace Corps. Of course, Grandpa sort of forgot to transfer the title back then, and it's gotten to Dru now 15 months after the fact. More than long enough for the registration and insurance to expire. Back in September.)
