1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.

"As usual, the nouveaux riches were blamed for any lapse in standards, and in particular for the extravagant entertaining with which they bought their way into society." -- An Elegant Madness: High Society in Regency England by Venetia Murray

Heh - Like I'd turn down a book meme. Interestingly enough, I'm at work, and the nearest book is research on the Regency Era. Otherwise I'd be quoting some fragment of PHP, I suppose.

In more personal news, Dru found a buyer for the car, and they went down to the DOL to get the title transferred, but the power of attorney Dad'd sent us was a copy, not the original (which is with the State of Illinois) and now Washington wants that. Ah!

I've opened the windows as it's nice out and I'm trying to clear out the scent of burnt bread. (What! It was just a little burnt! Hmmph. Fire alarm only went off for a few seconds. Just long enough to make sure it works, you know?)

I can hear the odd conversation pass by on the trail. It's a good fifty feet away, with trees and bushes, but usually they're pretty intelligible.

Then I realized that *they* can hear *me* when I'm cackling over something funny. Eep!

Ah well, they'll either assume it's a looney bin or that I'm the Mad Witch of Sand Point. I can live with either.
