Unscheduled vacation

I didn't mean to, but as July 1st was suddenly out of the question (Boss on vacation, coworker J at his sister's wedding, coworker D quitting) I got today off instead.

Slept in until noon. Doing laundry now and making  a list of everything I want/need to get done today. Gonna try out turkey pot pie for dinner tonight - enough leftover turkey for that.

Contentment in food

Oh yeah. Turkey pot pie kicks ass.

My little cereal bowls were the perfect size for single-serving, and oven safe, I had a package of frozen veggies with peas (can't have pot pie without peas) and bingbangboom: pot pie.

I'll freeze the other three for later consumption.

You know, I adore cookbooks, the Frugal Gourmet, the Naked Chef, 365 ways, Nigella... but when it comes to the pinch, I always turn to the Joy of Cooking. I still have my mother's old copy - coverless and dogeared, and a new version (because I'm that sort of book nerd.)
