LIttle Ado About Not Much At All
Aug. 21st, 2005 09:52 pmMC Raid didn't last long this morning - 8 mages and only one warlock, so we took down the one boss we could damn quick, and the next one pretty much required warlocks, so we bailed. Which, eh, but it did mean that Gordon and I could grab another 3 people and run through DM for the mage water quest I've been needing for ages. Yay shiny water!
Bailed from WoW after that, as my wrists were aching, and Dru was coming over. He put the new handlebar on my bike and showed me the coin collection from grandpa. I showed him the silver drasticly in need of polishing and the oddments of spoons. His girlfriend brought up the 'M' word, and for once, I can wholeheartedly tell him to jump for it. Their one issue is that she makes heaping gobs more money than he does, being a doctor while he's only an EMT. It'll change a bit once he's an RN, (she'll only make gobs more instead of heaping gobs) but she'll still be the big money earner. I think though, that they're both adult enough to deal with it. She threw him a surprise birthday party! That's just major bonus winky points, people.
Mom and Dad are buying a house in Albuquerque. Not sure of the exact financial details between them and the family trust, but they really needed to get out of the leaky rental they've been in. Plus, the new place has a guest room, which means I'll be more likely to visit. Maybe a long weekend sometime before Thanksgiving.
Dru left and I went back to my SGA viewing - I've been downloading, but for a first run, I need to see them chronologically, and I'm only on thetenthtwelfth episode of first run. Much with the Rodney and Sheppard love. Also, I want to hug Zelenka and call him George. And the Scot's accent is delightful. There's already been a McCoy joke! Hee!
I am of course, having some logic issues. I mean, if you were going offworld for some unspecified amount of time, maybe not coming back, would you keep paying rent on an apartment? Hell, if it were me, I would put my shit in storage, hand the keys to my brother (with an appropriate power of attorney for the bank account into which I'd be recieving salary and paying for the storage) and have him rent out my condo. Or sell it if need be. Or something. I'm discounting Sheppard's little dream pad, but Rodney should have had enough sense to not leave a bloody bag of chips in the couch. Unless that was fantasy-generated as well. I dunno.
Did I mention the spinning class? My bobbin is full and rather than just unwind it, I'm knitting straight from the spindle - loosely as it's wow with the uneven, and I'll be felting it. Still will be uneven, but most of it won't show quite so badly.
Questions, for those in the know: How many people were in the initial Atlantis expedition? How many Athosians are let running around? "Crops." Please. That's no help whatsoever, and likely there'd be a hell of a lot of specialization and trade between cultures that have access to the ultimate ease of transportation, I mean, hello! Stargate?
Besides, I'm firmly convinced that a city that was basically a shielded last stand under the ocean has sufficient hydorponics bays to feed the population. They just need someone to figure them out and man them.
