Spun my first skein of yarn last night (or rather, finished spinning). Two bobbins, ply the singles, wind the plied yarn onto the niddy-noddy, (I love that word!) take them off, set the twist in water, hang it to dry.

I'm still uneven, but I'm not exactly going for a fine yarn, so the finished product is a decent bulky-weight yarn. Don't know what I'll make, or if I'll leave it the same color, but it's a good first effort.

There's something soothing about spinning.

The bathroom project has come up against the shoals of finances and been stranded. I'm thinking more along the lines of replacing the slab/futon couch thing with a small loveseat-ish thing. Need to get rid of the comics currently residing thereunder, however, which means I need to pull them out and identify them. Bugger.

Nanowrimo is swiftly approaching, and it's something I'd love to do, but I'm having trouble coming up with enough storyline to carry the scenes in my head.

I miss the days of Lois&Clark, spending an entire Saturday writing in round robin. We were good - not trailing off into tangents or getting too caught up with roleplaying to finish. The result certainly could have used a bit more editing, but we stuck to a plot well enough, and when one person got stuck, it was usually time to hand off the baton to someone else. I love betaing stories, and writing myself (though nothing lately has found its way to the finish), but I miss the entire community of storytelling we had going there.

Had a near miss with Austen-boy. He was in the UDistrict, and so was I, but at different times on Saturday. Worst case scenario, I see him at a book signing on Halloween.

Which, wow. Costume. Friday night Wuzzle party, Saturday and Sunday at John&Meg's and Gregg&Pete's (though I can't remember which will be which night) and Monday work and the book signing. And no, I'm not pulling out four costumes. My Jedi costume is lacking good boots, and I've overworn the pants just around the house - they're lovely and light, and oops, don't match the wear on the shirts any more. Quidditch - same missing boots, and they've changed the uniform on me anyway, the bastards. So, fall back on SCA garb or create a new costume.

Hmm. Monday's absolutely needs to be worksafe. By which I mean nothing terribly skimpy, and I'm shy of skirts. So the Generic Wench(tm) is out for Monday. (But likely in for Friday :) I might have something in belly-dance-wear that's more tribal, so we'll see.

So the Atlantis fusion thing has totally taken over my brain, only besides the brain trying to shoehorn Xena and Gabrielle into some modern form (because they would so fit), my brain is taken over by the image of Blair's hand on the back of Jim's neck, in the mess hall, the other hand wildly gesticulating as he argues some point with the other linguist/anthropologists, and Caldwell wanted Jim to be in charge of his team, but it's clearly Sandburg's show, and they've got the best record of getting along with wanting-to-trade natives, and his Hand! on Jim's neck!

(And Kate Heightmeyer's in the corner just watching, and rather happy, because that's one less represso-boy she has to see professionally.)

His hand! on his neck!

And the printer server can stop dying any second now.

Oi, where'd that come from? (Though, really, I know all the culprits. I'm just not pointing fingers yet)
