And what is with the quiz this week? I have to decide! Hah!
1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?
Yes. Have some.
I'm a sci-fi/fantasy nut from way back, with a heaping serving of fanfic and a side of history.
2. What is your favorite novel?
I have it narrowed down to two favorite authors (Jane Austen and Eric Flint). I can't get any more specific, unless I can change my mind next week.
3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)
I had Rudyard Kipling's If burned into my brain in 8th grade, and I use it sometimes like the Litany Against Fear when dealing with freaking-out users. The ending's not exactly appropriate for me: "Then, you'll be a man, my son." but I like the sentiment of the rest. I enjoy Robert Service as a poet, but I can't pick a favorite, and of course, there's the Jabberwock by Lewis Carroll that's always a trip.
4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?
Again with the narrowing down bit. Can't I just read for a living? I want more time, period, and I'll get around to the things on my list(s) eventually.
5. What are you currently reading?
I'm in the middle of Cotillion by Georgette Heyer, but I think I'm about to give up on it - it's a little melodramatic. Reading Salt and Cod by Mark Kurlansky, and just about going into fits over the historical goodies I keep turning up. For such overtly dull subjects, they're truly much more fascinating than the first glance would indicate. I keep poking at the O'Reilly books online (we have access to 133 titles from work), to see if I want to teach myself PHP and MySQL, and I'm in the middle of a quick (hah!) scan through the Schnoogle HP Archives.
