Creeeaaak!
That is the sound of my muscles going 'Ow, dance much yesterday? Sheesh!'
I slept in and puttered around yesterday until it was time to go steal Dru's car, and then (after going back for the directions) headed down to Maple Valley for Kris' commitment ceremony. Way the bloody hell out there, but a beautiful setting overlooking a little lake, and enough space indoors, nobody minded the lack of wandering around outside looking at the nifty park. (There was an azalea garden right by the parking lot that I would have explored if it wasn't pouring when I pulled up.)
There was a large game room downstairs with plenty to do while people arrived, and I wandered in mid-epic Apples-to-Apples. Even if you're not playing, that's a fun thing.
The ceremony was beautiful, short and sweet, and then my acute volunteer-itis kicked in and I helped get all the food - multiple sorts of lasagna and salad - out on the tables. Oh, good stuff. And this mysterious greek salad dressing in unmarked bottles from a restaurant in Kent. Must explore sometime.
And then, the dancing! Oh, I should mention - Gaia Consort was there playing, and while I've known Sunnie for years now, this is the first time I've managed to catch them performing! Bad me. But they were lovely, and I just sat and listened at first (digesting, don'tchaknow? gotta wait 15 min before exercising and all that.) before the beat got to me and I had to get up.
"I forgot you were a belly dancer until you started dancing." Um. Yeah. It shows, too. But it's fun. I sometimes forget how fun, until I'm up there moving, and then getting too hot, and going out in the rain and dancing and coming back in and oh, there's another song, gotta keep moving. Until, hey, it's past 9 and people are leaving!
I'm so glad Dru lent me his car, because I could stick around and clean up (compulsive volunteeritis again) and keep dancing!
