Operation: Obstacle Course
Aug. 14th, 2007 10:54 amSo Mom flew in last Thursday to help me blitz through my condo with an eye to spiffing it up to sell.
I had to work Friday morning, but had the afternoon and Monday off, and we sorted and packed and cleared and tossed stuff in a storage unit, and now: my bathroom and bedroom are almost perfect (the topper being the magnificent mirror we found at a thrift store that matches my dresser), the dining room is close and the living room and kitchen are minefields of stuff I still have yet to go through. I've stubbed my toes a few times, and I'm *used* to cat-dodging as a daily event.
I'm back at work today and Mom's off to the airport for an early afternoon flight, and there are still blinds to replace, carpet to clean (or replace - depends on how hard those cat puke stains are to get out) a stove to scrub, and a dozen other minor chores. But the majority of the work seems to be done. I think. In any case, my brother's done with classes by the end of the week, and has (poor sap) volunteered to help me out with some of the things that might require an octopus' worth of hands.
We went out to brunch for Dru's birthday on Saturday and dinner last night for my natal anniversary, but my biggest present was Mom's presence. I'm thinking of getting myself Civ 4 for the Mac or something, but it'd just distract me from stuff I need to do. Darnit.
I just cast off my first Baby Surprise Jacket while on the bus this morning - most of it was done at the knitting group up at Village Yarn and Tea, and eensy, teensy bits this weekend. Veddy small spurts. I did most of the driving this weekend, since Mom's not familiar with the area, and I must say, I quite prefer being the chauffeur-ee. I brought the yarn to start the next one (for the other twin), but (and I'm kicking myself) forgot the pattern I'd copied out of the book at home. Is it 90 stitches cast on? I forget!
