Early Christmas!
Dec. 19th, 2005 09:00 pmWe did presents early, only not too early. Had the train around the tree running and everything. Mom was gung-ho on the clothes, but I suppose it was a blessing that she'd bought all Mediums (I've had Large shoulders since I was 12, nevermind the boobage) as we got to head back to the stores for returns and more shopping. I did like her choices, but I got a couple more things I liked better when we hit the stores. Dru loved his scarf (he'd better, as he asked for it in detail!)
( Dru in his scarf )
Mom also regifted some old ornaments to Dru and me as a hint to take them back with us already!
Next we went over to my grandfather's nursing home to attend their little family dinner and gift exchange. The food was just pizza and salad, but it was nice to talk to the director and his wife and the nursing staff. They're wonderful people, and the place is just lovely. No old-people smell at all!
Mom wore me out shopping after while Dru and the gf went off to the local gym Dad had found for them (I think he was using them as guinea pigs to see how it was.) Grandpa got a new pair of slippers (14s, not 13s - crap his feet are large!) and surprisingly, neither of the Targets we hit up (sales racks! Woo!) were very crowded.
Dinner was heaps of salad and lots of pie afterward. Dad made the traditional mincemeat pie - I'm going to have to get the recipe from him just to horrify myself on occasion. It dates back to the 1860's or so, and has things like fat from near the kidneys. Very specific. We got into the competetive puzzle later - we kept putting pieces in and talking about keeping score and 'I win!' even though we really didn't.
